Current and wave measurements for oceanographic/meteorological data collection, display/analysis to properly design coastal structures and public works projects, provide long-term monitoring, and assess impact to the littoral environment.
Current/ Wave Measurement
Teledyne RD Instruments Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCPs) are used to measure the speed and direction of water currents and waves to understand the hydraulic impact on structures and waterways. ADCPs can be deployed from a mooring or bottom mounted frame to collect vertical data, or they can be mounted on a piling or other subsea structure to collect data horizontally across the waterway.
Acoustic Communications
Teledyne Benthos Acoustic Modems are used to communicate ADCP or other subsea data wirelessly through the water column.. These highly versatile modems can be installed on moorings as shown, or on seafloor platforms or onboard underwater vehicles to provide real time data transmission, command and control.
Acoustic Releases:
Teledyne Benthos Acoustic Releases have been used for decades as a safe and reliable means of deploying and recovering critical subsea instrumentation. A secure acoustic command is sent from the topside unit to the subsea unit to release up to 25 tons of in-line instrumentation to the surface for recovery.
